LIS3DH
Ultra-low-power 3-axis MEMS accelerometer with selectable full scale and embedded FIFO in a 3 x 3 mm LGA.
The LIS3DH is an STMicroelectronics ultra-low-power three-axis MEMS accelerometer with selectable full scale of plus or minus 2, 4, 8 or 16 g and a digital output over I2C or SPI in a small 3 by 3 millimetre LGA package. The device includes embedded FIFO buffering and motion-detection features such as free-fall, tap and 4D orientation detection, which offload the host processor and let a product react to motion without polling the sensor continuously. Its low current draw makes it well suited to battery-powered and wearable products, where the sensor often runs continuously while the rest of the system sleeps. The accelerometer measures acceleration and, through it, tilt, orientation, vibration and free-fall, which covers a broad range of consumer, industrial and IoT functions, from screen rotation and step counting to condition monitoring. It connects over standard interfaces and is supported by the STM32Cube ecosystem, so it integrates quickly with an STM32 host. Every device is factory-traceable and ships with an import declaration, a certificate of origin and RoHS documentation. BeiLuo holds this part in regional stock and our FAE team supports power-mode and interface planning.
FAE Professional Review
This accelerometer is a long-standing favorite for low-power motion sensing because it combines low current with embedded detection features that keep the host asleep. For wearables, condition monitoring and orientation sensing, it is often the simplest way to add motion awareness. Use the embedded free-fall and tap detection rather than polling, and configure the FIFO to batch data so the host wakes less often.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does it save power?
The device draws very little current and includes low-power modes plus embedded free-fall, tap and orientation detection, so the host can sleep and wake only on an event.
FIFO buffering further reduces host wake-ups.
What can I measure with an accelerometer?
Acceleration and, through it, tilt, orientation, vibration, shock and free-fall, which covers screen rotation, step counting and condition monitoring.
Choose the full-scale range to match the motion you expect.
